Project Proposal Residency: application deadline 30th September 2015
Project Proposal Residency from 2nd to 30th November 2015
Description: The purpose of the project is to give hospitality to Italian and international artists for a short/medium period and offer them accommodation and relations aimed to develop artistic researches both practical and theoretical. The residency is conceived as a meeting and work place where share ideas and experiences.
The artists in residence will be asked to work on a project proposal which will be produced during their staying and to share it with The Blank. The project proposal will be presented at the conclusion of the residency during the Open Studio day.
At the beginning of the residency artists will introduce themselves to the community with an informal presentation of their previous activities and works. The residency period concludes with an Open Studios day and the presentation of the project proposal developed during their staying.
We are particularly interested in artists engaging the local community and/or working with the socio-cultural characteristics of the city.
A maximum of 2 artists will be selected among the applicants who will share accommodation, studio, kitchen and bathroom.
Eligibility: The program is open to artists at any stage of their career, working in visual arts, photography, film & video, media arts.
Language: Italian/English/French/Spanish
Location: Via Quarenghi 50, Bergamo, Italy
Disciplines:
Visual Arts (including environmental art & installation), Photography, Moving Image, Sculpture, Performance.
Paid by Host: Artist’s fee of 400 €, accommodation (bedroom and fully furnished kitchen), studio space and internet wifi
Paid by Artist: Residents are responsible for their travel, working materials, food and personal expenses during the residency.
Duration: 4 weeks, from 2nd to 30th November 2015
Deadline for Applications: 30th September 2015
The selections will be announced by 13th October 2015
The residency is intended as professional development opportunities for contemporary artists.
Project proposals and letter of motivation (included in the application form) are the basis for all selections.

The Blank Conversation is backand it’s a transversal project ideated by The Blank that involves residencies, interviews, publications, photography to create a new way of communication that tells the Contemporary Art in a spontaneous and available key.
Oscar Santillan (Ecuador, based in Amsterdam) insinuates in his work the existence of a territory where fact and fiction are exchangeable. Unexpected events occur there, the beat of drums synchronizes to the sweat of a person, the unrealized desire of a dead person is fulfilled, a cloud is physically capture in a marble container, or a horse looks at his own reflection
Santillan received a Sculpture MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University – VCU (US), and attended residencies at the Delfina Foundation (UK), Jan van Eyck (NL), Fondazione Ratti (IT), Skowhegan (US), and Seven Below (US).
His work has been displayed at ‘Carrillo Gil’ Museum of Art (MX), Nest (NL), STUK (BE), Fundacion ODEON (CO), Irish Museum of Modern Art (IE), Poli/graphic Triennial (PR), The Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art – SECCA (US), Copperfield (UK), Marilia Razuk Gallery (BR), Oud-Rekem Castle (Belgium), Bonnefanten Museum (NL), Centro de Arte Contemporáneo – CAC (EC), Vogt Gallery (US), Bienal de Arte Paiz (GT), among other venues.
