The guest of the opening conference of ArtDate is Massimo Fini, journalist, and writer who addresses the theme of Gift through a reading of his essay "Money dung of the devil" following in the footsteps of Marcel Mauss' fundamental work: "General Theory of Magic", exploring the subject from both an economic and anthropological point of view.
Massimo Fini's speech will be preceded by the institutional greetings of the Councillor for Culture Nadia Ghisalberti and a brief presentation of the ArtDate Festival conducted by Stefano Raimondi, President of The Blank.
Out of respect for the new ministerial provisions, the event will not be held in the presence but broadcast live through our Facebook page The Blank Contemporary Art:
The exhibition, curated by Stefano Raimondi, presents important works by seven international artists - Matilde Cassani, Alberto Garutti, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Andrea Mastrovito, Jonathan Monk, Andrea Romano and Namsal Siedlecki - in dialogue with as many voluntary associations: Aiuto per l'Autonomia Odv ONLUS, Avis Provinciale Bergamo, Ente Nazionale per la Protezione degli Animali (ENPA) - Bergamo section, Fabbrica dei Sogni ONLUS, Orto Botanico di Bergamo 'Lorenzo Rota' and Primo Ascolto Alzheimer. The Gift. On life and death through historical works and new productions, investigates the theme of gift, pushing towards the two dialectical boundaries that determine the existence of every man: life and death.

The participants, equipped with noise-cancelling headphones, are taken on a silent exploration through some of the city's most important places and the rooms of two museums - Accademia Carrara and GAMeC - Galleria d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Bergamo. Through small performative actions participants are stimulated to rediscover the urban and artistic space that surrounds them in an extra-daily way to leave traces of their passage.

FAME D'AMORE is an act of joy for a city that has waited so long to be able to come together again with small gestures, after the period of isolation due to the containment of the contagion from Covid-19
The talk "Art, signs, performance. Reflections on visual communication" is a moment of discussion aimed at exploring the development of performative practices in the contemporary art scene and their relationship with Sign Language. The meeting also introduces a reflection on Sign Language and its relationship with performative, theatrical, and Visual Vernacular practices, involving some of the main professionals in the field of accessible culture. The appointment is conceived as a four-voice dialogue between Claudia Santeroni and Maria Marzia Minelli, curators involved in research on the practice of performance, Rita Mazza, artistic director of the Festival del Silenzio and sign-performer and Nicola Della Maggiora, Visual Vernacular artist.
The contributions of the speakers aim at deepening some fundamental themes of visual communication and performative language focusing on the nature of the sign element and highlighting the linguistic specificities of mainly visual communication.
The event is sponsored by ENS, with the support of Regione Lombardia, Comune di Bergamo, Pio Istituto dei Sordi, Fondazione ASM and in collaboration with CUT - Centro Universitario Teatrale di Bergamo.
